Dr. David McDermott

Dr. McDermott graduated from West Point with a BS in Engineering and commissioned to the US Air Force and worked in Space Systems acquisitions, while receiving an MBA at the University of Santa Clara. He then went to Medical School at the University of Texas Heath Science Center at San Antonio.He completed 2 years of General Surgery residency in Texas followed by Urology Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and then a Pediatric Urology Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Following his training, he returned to the Air Force for 7 years acquiring the rank of Colonel and serving as Chair of Surgery and Chief of Urology at Malcolm Grow USAF Medical Center. He began a solo practice in Annapolis in 1990 and was a founding partner of AAUrology in 1997.  He has broad experience in adult and pediatric Urology, but pediatric is his primary focus. For the last 10 years, he has made annual surgical mission trips to Rwanda to repair complex congenital conditions and to provide advanced training to local Residents and Staff Urologists.

In his free time, Dr. McDermott enjoys golf and his large family, including 10 grandchildren.
